This lamp is inspired by the old idea of mountains as the axis mundi, the place where different worlds meet. In mythology, a mountain isn’t just a shape on the horizon; it’s a vertical bridge, a point of connection between sky, earth, and everything beneath. A place you go to find direction, to receive clarity, to feel centered again.
I wanted to bring that symbolism into something small and intimate. The layered green mountains at the base feel grounded and alive, while the checkered pattern above them hints at structure, order, and the unseen grid that holds our inner and outer worlds together. It’s a collision of landscape and pattern, earth and idea.
When illuminated, the lamp glows like a quiet threshold: rooted in the land, reaching toward something higher. It’s meant to feel like standing in a place where the everyday and the sacred overlap. A reminder that you can find orientation, transformation, and a sense of center even in the smallest corners of your home.
A small axis mundi of your own.
