The Art Update Week 5

Welcome back to The Art Update. This week has been all about planning and prepping for my time away. I'll be on the river for seven days with no service. I'm so excited to disconnect for a week, though I'm admittedly busy getting paintings, emails, content, and deliveries finished before I leave. Because I will be gone, there won't be a blog post next Thursday, April 30th.

Finished Work:

This week I finished the auction painting I created for Big Sky Youth Empowerment Program, a wonderful nonprofit in the Bozeman community, supporting at risk teens, teaching them social emotional skills while getting them outdoors.

This piece was extremely fun to make and get creative with. I played again with texture and collage, and I even stuffed the little pillow on the chair for a more three-dimensional expression in the work.

“A Place to Rest”

This piece was created with BYEP in mind. As a former mentor and program manager for BYEP, I wanted to create something that embodied what it feels like to be part of this community: the feeling of being heard, of learning to listen, of being surrounded by vibrant humans, of planting seeds and witnessing growth. Above all, I wanted to capture what it means to have a place that feels safe, a space to express yourself, rest the ego, and reconnect with self-expression.
