The Art Update Week 3
Welcome back! Another Thursday, another brief update on the week.
Let's jump straight into my current work in progress piece. This one has my full attention right now.
The painting has been a push and pull on my brain, figuring out color, pattern, and balance.
I began the process of placing and gluing my collaged-painted pieces, including the rug (hand-dyed and painted fabric).

I loved how the pieces fit into the image. Next was to finish out the border and add in all the "decor" in the room. Honestly, this feels a bit like my ideal dollhouse, but I just get to decorate.

I knew this border needed another bright pop, and the little red stars added the correct amount of pop and whimsy for my liking.

Adding a wall and arched entryway gives the space dimension, while the out-of-perspective rug still brings in that two-dimensional "flat" feeling.

This is where she is as of tonight. More to come, I can't wait to see where she is next week.

Love the painting style you have evolved into. It has a fairytale magical quality which liberates us viewers from our own preset assumptions about how things must be. Absolutely delightful! Can’t wait to see what comes next.
